2023 Traditional Camp Counselors

  • Sophia Agnessi

    This will be Sophia's first year on staff, and she can't wait to co-lead Outdoor Education! She will be attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the fall, studying Environmental Science. She loves to hike with her dog, going to the beach, and spending lots of time with family. She is most excited for the family-feel of HPR, and getting to know all of the campers!
  • Ben Albanese

    This is Ben's third year as a counselor but he was a longtime camper here at HPR. This summer, he will be co-leading Team Building. He currently attends Denver Community College and loves fishing, golfing, playing soccer, drawing, and working out. His favorite thing about HPR is the all camp games and he is most excited to make new friends this summer!
  • Sophie Albanese

    Sophie is thrilled for her first year on staff after being a camper, co-leading Sports Field! Sophie will be a freshman at Colorado State University this fall, studying business. In her free time, she likes to ski, hike, and spend time with friends/family. She is most excited for having fun and making memories with other counselors/campers!
  • Emily Elletson

    After 8 years of being a camper, Emily is so ready for her first year on staff as an Arts & Crafts co-lead! She will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall, and her dream job is to work within the social media marketing team of a sports team. She enjoys playing volleyball, working out, concerts, traveling, and getting coffee. She is most excited for meeting new people and working in a fun environment.
  • Olivia Foss

    This will be Olivia's first year on staff, after being a camper for 2 years when she was younger! She is pursuing a major in Exercise and Sports Science, and her dream job is to open up a gym/clinic that specializes in working with people with disabilities. She loves playing volleyball, and is most excited about creating relationships and memories with HPR staff and campers, as well as share her passion for arts & crafts as a co-lead for that area!
  • Ian Hanlon

    Ian is excited for his second year back in traditional, co-leading Canoeing! He is currently a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, studying Finance and Management. He loves being active and spending time outside, and he is most excited to be in nature, having fun with everyone.
  • Carrie Johnson

    Carrie is excited for her third year at camp, co-leading Nature Camp Craft! She currently attends NDSU, studying retail merchandising. She recently adopted a cat named Ladybug, and is most excited to go canoeing at camp!
  • Jori Jones

    Year 2, here comes Jori! She will be co-leading Nature Camp Craft this year. She currently studies biology and plays hockey at Gustavus Adolphus College. She loves to hike, paint, and travel, and she is most excited to spend time outside with campers.
  • Gretta Kennedy

    Gretta is thrilled to be on HPR staff for the first time! In the fall, she will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying Biology on a pre-med track. In her free time, she likes to play tennis, and spend time with friends/family. She will be co-leading Racquet Sports this summer, and is most excited for planning super fun afternoon activities!
  • Lydia Knutson

    This will be Lydia's first year on staff, and she'll be co-leading Racquet Sports! She currently attends Marquette University, and her dream job is to work for an NBA team. She loves spending her free time in the summer on the lake, and is most excited to build new relationships with staff and campers!
  • Leo Loomis

    Leo will be co-leading Low Ropes for his first year on staff! He currently attends Benedictine College, where he studies International Business and Management. He loves to express his creativity through art, writing, and music. He is most excited to gain new experiences and reconnect with nature!
  • Betsy McGinley

    Betsy is so excited to be back for year 2 as an Explore/Creative Counselor lead! She just finished her freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and in her free time, she loves going on adventures with friends, singing in choir, traveling, and playing card games. She is most excited to build strong relationships with campers and spend her days outside!
  • Jack Nelson

    Jack is so excited for year 2, and co-leading Explore/being a Creative Counselor! He is currently studying Neuroscience on a pre-med track at the University of Notre Dame, and loves drinking coffee, hanging out with friends, playing with his dog, and reading a good book in his free time. He is most excited to be back with all the amazing campers and counselors from last year, and for more butter dances!
  • Cecelia Olson

    Cecelia cannot wait for her first summer at camp as a Low Ropes co-lead! She is a rising sophomore at Loyola University Chicago, where she studies English with a minor in Marketing. In her free time, she loves discovering new coffee shops, reading, working on her hand embroidery, and catching up on her favorite TV shows. She is most excited to learn how to do Archery this summer!
  • Lee Olson

    Lee is so excited for year 1 on staff as an Explore co-lead! He just finished his freshman year at the University of Minnesota, studying graphic design and theatre arts. In his free time, he loves to draw, read, watch movies, and be outside. He is most excited to meet all the new people he's going to make connections with!
  • Flynn Opstad

    Flynn is excited for his second year on staff, co-leading Sports Field! He is currently studying Political Science at the University of Denver. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, playing rugby, and skiing. He is most excited to get back to camp and have the best summer ever!
  • Megan Palmer

    This is Megan's first year on staff after being a previous camper! She will be co-leading Science. She recently graduated from Stillwater Area High School, and will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Stout in the fall. In her free time, she likes to be outdoors, go hammocking, make friendship bracelets, and go fishing. She is most excited to meet a bunch of awesome new people, and learn how to make the best s'more!
  • Rachel Palmer

    Rachel is so excited for her second year on staff, and to co-lead Archery! She is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and is working towards becoming a secondary teacher. Her favorite hobbies include hammocking and making friendship bracelets. She is most excited to see all of her campers from last summer, and to spend time off technology!
  • John Schaefer

    This will be John's second year on staff, and he will be co-leading Team Building! He is currently a Philosophy major at Hillsdale College in Michigan, and he hopes to one day become a lawyer. He enjoys playing trumpet, singing opera, and is always reading a good book. He is most excited for Tournament of Champions (TOC) this summer!
  • Megan Schmiechen

    Megan is excited for her second year on staff, where she'll be co-leading Science! She just finished her sophomore year at Gustavus Adolphus College, where she is studying Psychology and Communications. In her free time, she loves reading books, hammocking, and hanging out with her family. She is most excited to meet all of her campers!
  • Colin Schreier

    This will be Colin's first year on staff, and he will be co-leading Outdoor Education! He currently attends Southern New Hampshire University, studying Community Health. In his free time, he volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, plays video games, and explores the state parks around him. He is most excited to be outdoors all day!
  • Hannah Simon

    Hannah is so excited to be in the arena for her first year, as a co-Horse Director. She currently attends the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and is majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Social Studies. Her dream job is to be a librarian! In her free time, she likes to hike, hang out with family, and read a good book. She is most excited to be outside and create memories with her campers!
  • Sam Stonehouse

    Sam is excited to be back for his first year as a counselor, after being a long-time camper! He is will be attending the University of St. Thomas in the fall, studying Finance. He played soccer, football, and did pole vault for Stillwater Area High School this last year. He will be a co-lead for Archery this summer, and is most excited to connect with everyone and meet new people!
  • William Stonehouse

    This will be Will’s second summer on staff and he will be leading canoeing. He just finished his second year at the University of Minnesota studying Supply Chain & Operations Management. Some of his hobbies include playing piano and golfing. He is co-leading Canoeing this summer, and is most excited to share his interests with his campers, and help them to discover theirs.

2023 Maintenance Staff

  • Joseph Koch

    This will be Joseph's first summer on staff at HPR! He just finished his freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studies Biomedical Engineering. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports and being outdoors. He is most excited to gaining new experiences, and reconnecting with nature.

2023 Horse Wranglers

  • Brooklyn Fischbach

    This will be Brooklyns second year on staff, and she will be a Wrangler/Co-Horse Director. Currently, she goes to the University of Minnesota-Crookston and is studying Equine Business Management. Her dream job is working with horses, but more specifically, being hands on with either lessons, a farmhand job, or managing a barn. Some of Brooklyn’s hobbies include reading, working out, journaling, taking pictures, and hanging out with friends or family. Brooklyn's favorite part about camp is the having ability to work outside all day with horses.
  • Morgan Delaney

    This will be Morgan's first year on staff, and she is so excited to be a Wrangler! She just finished her first year at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where she is majoring in Animal Science - Equine Management. Her dream job is to be an animal nutritionist. She is most excited to spend her summer outside and have new opportunities at HPR!
