2023 K/1 Camp Staff

  • Kris Scheel

    Kris will be the K/1 Program Director this summer at HPR. It is her eighth year at camp, and she just finished her 10th year as a preschool teacher at the Children's Family Farm in Lake Elmo. Her favorite thing about HPR is how deeply the staff care for campers and each other while having so much fun at the same time.
  • Char Batchelor

    Char is back for her third year at camp, but her first year as a K1 counselor! She is currently a student at St. Olaf University, studying Biology and Neuroscience - and also playing Ultimate Frisbee! She loves hiking, being outdoors, and visiting national parks. She is most excited to meet so many new campers and play all-camp games!
  • Allie Quirk

    Allie is so excited for her first year on staff, after being a camper for 9 years at HPR! She currently attends Minnesota State University, Mankato, studying nursing. Her dream job is to be a pediatric nurse! She is most excited to be outside all day and to be back at HPR making amazing memories.
  • Charlie Valerius

    This will be Charlie's third year on staff and he could not be more ecstatic. He's currently studying Organizational Communication at Metro State University with the hopes of working as a Communication Specialist. His favorite hobbies are hiking, yoga, reading, and of course, listening to Taylor Swift. What Charlie loves most about HPR is the safe environment it provides to let people push themselves outside of their comfort zones. He is most excited about the butter churning dance parties and making food over the fire with his campers.
  • Will Green

    Will is thrilled to be coming back for a second year on staff! Next year, he will be studying Finance and Math an Indiana University, with hopes to work in investment banking. He loves to ski, play basketball, or do anything outdoors. He loves getting to see campers grow to be more confident in themselves at HPR, and he can't wait to meet all the new campers!
  • Danny Valerius

    Danny can't wait for year 3 at HPR! He is studying Musical Theatre at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. He would love to perform and produce professional theatre some day! He loved hammocking, riding his bike, pickleball, and reading. He is most excited to try out new activities he hasn't done before!
  • Katherine Swanson

    This will be Katherine's first year at HPR, and she is SO excited! She is currently studying Marketing and Supply Chain Management at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She loves hiking, taking boat rides, and making bracelets! She is most excited to meet all of the campers and learn all the HPR activities.

2023 Assistant Counselors

  • Emma Dees

    Emma is excited for her 2nd year as an assistant counselor, after being a camper for 10 years! She will be a senior at Hill Murray High School this fall, and is a year-round competitive swimmer - but she also enjoys reading, canoeing, baking, and listening to music. She is most excited to see her previous campers and play bonkers!
  • Alison Keeler

    Alison is ready for year 1 on HPR staff after being a camper for 4 years! She just finished her junior year at Stillwater Area High School, and enjoys writing for the school's newspaper, fostering dogs with her family, and spending time with friends. She is most excited to make lifelong friends, and for Friday dress-up days!
  • Gavin Schuna

    Gavin is ready for his first year on staff, after being a camper for 10 years! He currently attends Stillwater Area High School, where he will be a junior this fall. He wants to be a stock broker someday, but his current hobbies include playing hockey, tennis, and pickleball. He is most excited to meet all of the campers!
  • Morgan Flom

    Morgan is excited for her first year on staff! She just finished her sophomore year at Stillwater Area High School, where she also plays lacrosse. She is most excited to meet all of the new campers and do new activities.
  • Mason Warlick

    Mason is excited for his first year on staff after being a camper for 6 years! He just finished his junior year at Stillwater Area High School, and enjoys being on the tennis and alpine skiing teams. He is most excited to see what camp is like from a counselor's perspective!
  • Claire Van Ranst

    Claire is thrilled to be on HPR staff for her first year! She currently attends Stillwater Area High School, where she'll be a senior this fall. She loves distance running and downhill skiing, and wants to become a teacher one day. She is most excited to meet all of the campers and be a part of a great summer experience!
